Hello and welcome to the Choctaws Orientals web site.
I hope you enjoy looking at my
beautiful cats and web site !

My name is Sue Bowen. I have been a breeder of
Orientals for five years. These cats are a very loving breed, quite
Egyptian in looks but as you can I did not choose an Egyptian prefix.
I chose instead, Choctaw as I specialise in
Chocolate and Apricot Orientals, shaded and smokes... also my husband Dave
is very interested in North American Indian history and found a web site
on the Choctaw Indians. It was extremely interesting to learn that the
'Choctaw' Indians were very involved in code talking in World War 2 and
they used their native tongue, inventing a code against the Japanese.
Through the course of reading up about the Choctaw
Indians, Dave also learnt that they love cats and wolves. Therefore
wolves are involved in the names of our cats and are featured
throughout the web site.
Our cats and prefix are officially adopted
by the Choctaw Tribal Indians of Oklahoma.

I have been involved in the 'cat fancy' for
twenty years. Originally I used to exhibit and bred Persians but as the breed
changed type and health problems within my own family (the human side), I
retired for a few years. Then one day, I bought a Siamese kitten and saw
for the very first time an Oriental cat and the rest as they say is history !!
